An introduction to Matt
Well, hello there.
I’m Matt. I do tech stuff as a profession and literature stuff as a passion. I am working on a novel about time travel. My current quest is learning how to edit a draft. I have many drafts but few revised drafts.
I like to think that I am kind of funny. I love dad jokes and will inflict them upon whoever I can. Your groans of bad-pun-pain make me happy.
From time to time I write performance poetry. The select few who get to hear these poems keep saying I should record them and share them somewhere. I might do that one day.
Like Neil, I too am into this God thing. My doctrinal position is we should be kind to each other (each other being everyone without exception) and any preacher who says any different needs to go and look at the good book some more. Being kind to all is really hard. I’m still figuring out how to do that.
If I was an animal I would be an easily distracted ferret. I have many deep interests and projects and very little ability to stay on task. As a result things tend to get done in a time frame that even Doctor Who would have a hard time understanding. I am a full on paradox in that I thrive on order, calm, and structure but can only generate advanced chaos. I have a strange relationship with deadlines and rather like the whooshing noise they make as they go flying by (full marks if you know who said that first). Further more… Oh a squirrel.
I love writing, blogging and making websites (even though I suck at design). I am dyslexic, dysphasic, and probably a bunch of other undiagnosed stuff too. I try not to let that stop me. I have a degenerative spine thing with a long hard to spell name so I tend to spend a lot of time sitting and thinking about things – usually not the things I am doing.
It should, therefore, be of very little surprise that I write for a lot of blogs and then forget to write anything for ages (only to come back and write a whole load).
When not giving all my time to these things, I also am a bit of a political animal and a paid up member of a party that is liberal, likes yellow, and is nice. Our main strangths are we are nice and we make a good cup of tea. Our logo has wings.
I can be found writing essay type things on lordmatt.co.uk, AI and experimental storytelling on matrixdreams.com (check out the worst agony aunt ever, Jane Sillybottom). I run authorbuzz.co.uk (a community for authors, readers, and writers with a UK focus) and will get those new features rolled out any year now. There’s more like isBrill.com but beyond that, I’ll let you find in your own time.
I am okay with being called a geek or a nerd. My pronouns are whatever makes sense in the moment as I have no strong feelings on the subject. You may call me lord and master, oh you, or that hairy weirdo; just don’t call me late to dinner.
If for some unknowable reason, you still want to know more, I maintain a /me page. I’ll probably be here sounding off about variouse arty topics with all the consistancy of day old lumpy custard.
What are you still doing here?
